While travelling to Italy, Kars dons a fedora and a longcoat in order to appear less conspicuous.

Personality
Kars is intelligent, ruthless, and unmarried-minded in his dedication to obtaining the Blood-red Rock of Aja. He was stated to accept been a genius amid the Colonnade Men, having been the original creator of the Stone Mask.
Initially, he appears to be the most aloof and no-nonsense of the Pillar Men, rarely smiling and often being the one who has to remind the other two of their ultimate objective.[3] Obsessed with obtaining the Red Stone of Aja, he is willing to trample anyone in his way, no matter how dishonorable the method. At his worst, he broke his word most fighting for the Stone fair and square, cheating to defeat Lisa Lisa and and then unleashing his Vampire minions to kill a weakened Joseph Joestar and has been revealed to execute children, anticipating their revenge.[4]
Kars acknowledges JoJo's temporary victory and leaves
With the advantage of his resilience and immortality, Kars is a methodical and patient individual who can infiltrate human club (donning their clothes) or observes a room to strike all its occupants in one move.[five] His kickoff battle confronting Joseph demonstrates a bully deal of relentlessness in trying to obtain the Rock as the Colonnade Man answers Joseph's every tricks calmly with moves of his own.[6] Unaffected by setbacks such as when he peacefully accepted that Joseph stole the Stone from nether his nose,[7] he will relentlessly struggle to win through the direst situation. Merely when does he discover himself in space, unable to motion despite repeated attempts to do so, and drifting away from Earth does he lose his composure and hope.[8] Still, his obsession with the Aja Stone is an easily exploitable weakness every bit Kars prefers to take no chance in losing it. Thus it has been used as a shield and leverage by his enemies with ease.[7] [9]
When his bloodlust flares upwardly, Kars often licks his blade or lips
Despite his stern, no-nonsense outside, Kars possesses a murderous and sadistic nature. He has stated that a life without an enemy is boring[3] and has shown to enjoy fights occasionally. Withal, he just actually appreciates seeing his enemies being in a weak position and panicking, appreciation the expression and cries of despair on Joseph when he was the Ultimate Lifeform,[10] and often licks his lips in anticipation of their demise. Kars also comes beyond as mockingly polite, every bit he offered Lisa Lisa poison in order to dice on her own terms rather than fighting him.[eleven] These tendencies become more articulate when he attains his ultimate form, and he is seen to thoroughly savor his condition equally the almost powerful lifeform on Earth.[12]
Angered that his people don't share his appetite
Kars reveals himself to be a power-hungry Pillar Human, fixated on controlling the full potential of his body and the idea of resting "at the top".[4] When he discovered that the Colonnade Men's brains held untapped potential, much like humans, Kars wanted to control it. That obsession made him build the Stone Masks to unlock his hidden abilities; when that failed to see his expectations, he sought out the Cherry-red Rock of Aja to complete his transformation into an ultimate existence. He was enraged when the balance of his tribe refused to "conquer the lord's day" every bit he wished, believing that they should employ their innate ability to the fullest and rule over all life; however, he either ignored or failed to consider the fact that the increased hunger brought on by the Rock Mask's power would crusade his race to exterminate all life on Earth.[13]
Kars apologizes to Wamuu for stepping on his shadow
Kars keeps an cryptic human relationship toward those around him. On 1 hand, he considered Santana to be nil but a simple guard domestic dog,[v] and slaughtered the rest of his race (including his parents) without hesitation or remorse.[13] On the other hand, he expresses himself to care securely for Esidisi and Wamuu,[14] repeatedly vowing to achieve his goals and kill Joseph Joestar to honor and avenge their sacrifices in ensuring his success.[5] [12] Kars also seems to have a certain respect for nature and animals; he caused a drunk driver who about striking a puppy to get into an accident and die,[fifteen] and he deliberately complicated an otherwise-unproblematic landing to avert falling on a flower.[7] However, he does later assault a squirrel when testing his Ultimate Form's abilities,[12] and is said to have threatened an entire ecosystem fueling his Stone Masks. Ultimately, Kars is capable of affection and forming bonds with others, but those angel always come second to his goals.
Like other Pillar men, Kars looks downwards on machines like guns and planes. Sneering at the cyborg technology Rudol von Stroheim demonstrates, considering it and other human advancement inferior.[5] Moreover, he considers his Vampire grunts to be worthless pawns, unmoved if they are victimized or slain, and willing to execute them himself should they testify abrasive to him.[four]

History
Groundwork
Kars using the first Stone Mask
Kars was born 102,000 years before the events of Boxing Trend. His people - who would be dubbed "Pillar Men" in the futurity - lived underground and survived off the essence of other living things, failing to reproduce due to their long and worthy lifespans. Despite living in a peaceful, well-supplied order, Kars was dissatisfied; in his eyes, his race could easily rule over the Earth if not for their lethal weakness to sunlight. Consumed by ambition, he began seeking a way for his race to "tame the sun" and exit the underground.
Kars massacring his race
In time, Kars created the Stone Masks and began to exam their effects on himself. Nonetheless, their spines were unable to penetrate his own skin deeply enough to unlock his full potential - instead, he gained increased body manipulation powers at the price of greatly increased hunger.
Eventually, his race began to fright Kars for his obsession, as the increased hunger caused past the mask would threaten their way of life if its employ became widespread. Soon, Kars constitute himself nether attack from the rest of his people, who sought his execution despite his protests. Unable to sway them to his side with promises of godhood, he slaughtered his people himself, including his own parents. Along with Esidisi, one of the simply members of his race who agreed with his ethics, he took two children, who were presumably the Colonnade Men to be known equally Santana and Wamuu.
Eventually, Kars learned of the Red Stone of Aja, coming to believe that its power would perfect the Rock Mask. He developed a modified version of the mask that could combine with a flawless "Super Aja", leaving Santana backside while he and the others traveled beyond the sea to Europe. In that location, during the time of the Roman Empire, Kars found a Super Aja in the possession of a Roman Emperor, but to be blocked from his goal by a tribe of Ripple users. While successful in the tribe's decimation, he and his comrades were forced to hibernate nether the Roman Colosseum.
Boxing Tendency (1938-39)
The Colonnade Men hibernate
In the present, Kars is introduced equally the leader of the Pillar Men, getting attacked past Wamuu later on stepping on his shadow and apologizing for having forgotten that trait. Afterward Joseph's initial defeat, Kars and the other Colonnade Men ready off to find the location of the Red Stone of Aja, eventually settling in an abandoned mansion in San Moritz, Switzerland. Having institute a lead to the stone, Esidisi had planned to contact Kars after retrieving information technology, just was promptly defeated by Joseph instead. Growing suspicious at the lack of contact, Kars sets off to Italy to handle things himself.
At the edge betwixt Switzerland and Italian republic, he is confronted by Rudol von Stroheim and Joseph Joestar; he apace deduces that the latter was responsible for Esidisi's death, and vows to kill Joseph in return once he secures the Blood-red Stone of Aja. Although briefly caught off-guard by Stroheim's new cyborg body - designed to surpass the Pillar Men, based off of Santana's data - he soon regains the advantage and cuts the German down, revealing that Santana was hands the weakest of the four. He manages to recollect the Red Stone, merely to accept information technology taken from him past Joseph afterwards a short struggle and a fall off a cliff. Kars travels back to San Moritz, where he is eventually confronted past Joseph and Lisa Lisa. Later watching Joseph's victory over Wamuu, he agrees to take a fair fight with Lisa Lisa at the nearby ruins, just ultimately tricks her during their fight with a doppelgänger and steals the stone from her, leaving her unconscious.
This immediately enrages Joseph, who battles Kars but is continually trapped in a dilemma where Kars pierces Lisa Lisa's feet and strings a rope through the wounds, forcing Joseph to take hold of the rope to stop her from falling. An overconfident Kars approaches equally Joseph lights his scarf on fire and attacks, but falls from the beam clutching the rope as Kars severs it to end off Lisa Lisa. However, this is revealed to have been Joseph'south intentional setup, as he drew Kars' attention to his upper body while he bundled the loop of rope with his legs below, tricking him into stepping into the loop and forcing him to keep his opponents above the spikes below. Kars faces Joseph in a final standoff with his arm blade, but is soundly browbeaten as Joseph'southward Ripple breaks the bract and wounds his arm, knocking him off the railing and into the spikes below. Stroheim and his Nazi troops get in forth with Robert E.O. Speedwagon, Smokey Brown and the Speedwagon Foundation Special Forces. Stroheim gloats over Kars before ordering his troops to finish the Colonnade Man off.
Kars, the Ultimate Beingness.
As the Nazis unleash ultraviolet light upon him, Kars unexpectedly dons a modified Stone Mask with the Super Aja in place; the lite activates the mask and enables him to enter his ultimate form. The humans can but stand in horror every bit Kars displays his new-establish power past briefly transforming his hand into a mankind-eating squirrel and then continuing in the sunlight while his remaining vampire minions are instantly destroyed. Kars and then proceeds to enact his murderous intent on Joseph's life equally the latter lures him away from the others in a German plane, using it to force Kars into a volcano in hopes the magma can impale him.
Kars globe-trotting through infinite for eternity
Inside the volcano, Kars evolves a continuous and inorganic porous material to protect himself from the magma while digging his way out and slicing Joseph'southward arm off. He then developed his own Ripple, the energy potent enough to melt human flesh, deciding to apply it to impale Joseph out of poetic justice. Joseph unconsciously defends himself past using the Super Aja to redirect Kars' Ripple into the footing, causing an eruption that blasts the land the two fighters are on into the air. Kars attempts to escape, just is briefly distracted by Joseph, allowing volcanic debris and the latter's severed forearm enough time to knock Kars out of Earth's orbit.
Kars prepares to render to Earth afterward being thrown out of orbit by ejecting the congenital-upward air inside his body, only the air freezes on its way out. His vital trunk begins to freeze from the near-accented zero temperature and he becomes trapped in the void of space for eternity as one-half-mineral, one-half-organic. Unable to die even though he wishes for information technology, Kars eventually stops thinking.
Jorge Joestar (May or may non exist considered catechism)
After his defeat in Part II: Boxing Tendency, he escapes his eternal adjournment in space past boarding the 1985 spacecraft Giotto and sending it to Mars. As time went on, the universe would naturally dice and restart thirty-six times, sending thirty-six other Kars and Giottos to Mars. Information technology was in the thirty-seventh universe that he met astronaut Funnier Valentine. They make an agreement prior to the events of the story that volition send Kars dorsum to Earth and give Dio Brando the power he needs to likewise get the Ultimate Lifeform.
When Kars meets detective Joji Joestar and encounters Dio, this occurrence between Dio and Kars had already happened in another universe. Kars then rebels against Dio for the sake of human ingenuity being something beyond him.
